FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I need an appointment?
For priority service, yes, appointments always come first when scheduling the work for the day. With an appointment, we can typically have your vehicle ready same day.
For non-appointment drop-offs, vehicles are worked into the schedule as gaps open up. Often this only takes us 1 day; however, on occasion this can take from 2-3 days depending on the current workload.
Do you do oil changes?
Yes, absolutely. Many of our current clients began their relationship with us by having a simple oil change performed. This allowed them to get a feel for the integrity and quality of our business without a large repair risk. We would love to start a relationship with you in the same way!
It should be noted that we are a full-service shop, meaning that we typically book non-emergency maintenance a few days in advance, depending on the season. If you are in a rush for an immediate oil change, we completely understand, and will do our best to accommodate you as quickly as possible.
What forms of contact do you offer?
Your choice. Phone, text, or email available. Please let us know which you prefer when you check in, and we will use it.
Do you offer a shuttle?
Yes, we drop off anywhere within a 2.5 mile radius. Additionally, the Lindbergh MARTA station is right next door, providing quick access to the airport. (more information here)
UBER is also becoming a cost-effective option, offering quick trips throughout Buckhead for under $5.
Do you offer loaner vehicles?
At Anthem, rather than loaner cars, we offer an Uber shuttle service throughout Buckhead. This allows us to keep costs low and to beat dealership pricing by up to 30%. While most dealerships do offer a convenient fleet of loaner cars, they are not free. The cost of maintaining a loaner fleet is passed on to the customer in the form of higher service and repair costs.
Can I use Anthem Automotive instead of the dealer?
Yes! 100%. It is a common belief that all maintenance work must be done by the dealership to withhold a vehicle's warranty. This is not true. Dealerships are required by law to honor your warranty regardless of where the maintenance work was performed. From the Federal Trade Commission:
"...the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, which is enforced by the FTC, makes it illegal for manufacturers or dealers to claim that your warranty is void or to deny coverage under your warranty simply because someone other than the dealer did the work." (FTC.gov, July - 2011)
The only time that we recommend using the dealership is under the one of the following scenarios:
Recalls - all federal NHTSA recall work must be performed at dealership at no cost to the customer
SRS - we recommend the dealership perform any airbag, seat belt, or impact related work. Additionally, these are typically under recall (see above).
Warranty - if your vehicle is brand new, dealerships will typically repair major components at no charge until a certain point, typically 36k, 60k, or 100k miles, depending on the manufacturer.
When can I drop-off / pick-up my car?
The ideal time to drop-off or pick-up your vehicle is between 7-8am, Monday through Friday. We can typically turn most work around same-day with pick-up times between 4-5pm.
If you would like to visit outside these hours, we have installed a 24/7 night drop located at the front door. Additionally, we have 24/7 key lockers available for after hours pickup. Call for details.
What payment methods do you accept?
All major credit cards (American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa) and cash. We are no longer able to accept checks.
What certifications do your technicians have?
Our technicians hold Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications. ASE is an internationally recognized institution, which has been certifying technicians since 1972. Certifications range from simple brake service all the way up to complex automatic transmission rebuilding. See the About Us page for details on our technicians. See ASE for information regarding the full program.
May I bring my own parts for you to install?
Unfortunately, we can only warranty parts that we source through our own suppliers. As a result, we are unable to conduct a non-warranty job by installing externally-supplied parts.
What quality of parts do you use?
High Quality. The same type of part can have a wide range of quality options, ranging from high-quality OEM level (i.e. dealer parts) to low-quality, imitation level (i.e. eBay parts). Many parts stores offer this entire spectrum as well, typically designated by the categories of "Good, Better, Best." All of the parts at Anthem Automotive are of OEM or better quality!
Full Warranty. Parts purchased over-the-counter at parts stores carry a "part cost" warranty. This means that if the part should fail, the store would give you a replacement part over-the-counter. It would then be your responsibility to replace the failed part and complete the labor again. At Anthem Automotive, we add a "full replacement cost" warranty to the store's warranty. This means that if the part fails within 3 years or 36,000 miles, we will cover the repair in FULL, including labor!
Do you do pre-purchase vehicle inspections?
For vehicles that are only 2-3 years old, the best, most comprehensive inspection is found at the OEM dealerships. The dealership will review the vehicle for any open recalls and/or technical service bulletins and typically complete those items free of charge during the same visit. This is not to say that an independent shop cannot do your pre-purchase inspection. Rather, it is simply more efficient to bring the vehicle to the dealership to have everything done at the same time.
What models of cars do you work on?
We work on all makes and models of vehicles, as shown by our full range of diagnostic equipment, with the exception of Mercedes Benz, Jaguar / Land Rover, Corvette, Porsche, and other exotic brands (Lotus, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, etc), diesel engines, stolen-recovery vehicles, and vehicles with modifications (aftermarket suspensions, exhausts, ECM tunes, performance chips, etc).
What year range of cars do you work on?
Due to the lack of parts and diagnostic information, we can no longer service vehicles produced before the year 2004. If your vehicle is older than 15 years, please give us a call, and we can provide you a referral based on your vehicle.
